Oooh! I’m downloading mine now…..!
hehe yay!
SO exciting, Z!!!
I’m downloading it, too.
Yay
I’ve got it! I can’t wait to begin reading!
I hope you like it! I have a discussion thread on theriantype.com (on the discussion forum) for feedback.
Very cool, Zoe! It looks great!
Thanks, Edie!
Ya’ know me.
I’ll wait for Mr. Kindle.
Congrats!
Hi Zoe, what a great cover (very important!) and I love novellas/anthologies too so I voted for choice #2. You should listen to us
Uh seriously Zoe…I don’t think anyone’s going to click the “buy an organ grinder monkey” button. And anyone *does* have such gall, such a person will find bunch of us lined up and waiting to kick their snarky little behinds!
It doesn’t sound like anything I’ve read before but if Kel is excited about it then it’s got my interest! (I’m at a crucial bit of WFS so I MUST finish that first.)
I look forward to it.
Aren’t new books fun?!
Hehe Catie. Actually my best friend thought it would be funny to vote for that haha. So she did. And then she re-voted for the one she wanted to try to balance it back out haha. I should beat her with a stick. Though people will do that, cause they think it’s funny haha. We’re just ignoring that part, and hoping people don’t think it means I can’t write, haha!
Hey Kit, thanks for coming over to the dark side!
And definitely finish Kel’s book first. WFS is really good.
Hey Allison, thanks! I am leaning toward finishing these three novellas first. I pretty much want to make sure that people like KEPT enough for me to make that my focus.
Oh crap, Spy. I don’t know how I missed replying to you. The kindle edition is loaded, but it’ll take 12-72 hours for it to go live. It’s $1.50, because I can’t make it free. It has to be a dollar or more. And I may go back and just make it a dollar. Kindle won’t let you put anything up there for free.
Hello Zoe,
Do you mind if I announce Kept on ebooksjustpublished.com?
Regards,
Mark.
Hey Mark,
Of course I don’t mind! It would be much appreciated, thank you!
Z
Kept will be announced on eBooks Just Published on the 2nd December (Australian time).
Thanks very much and enjoy Thanksgiving (especially those candied yams!
Hey Mark,
Thanks so much! I’ll be sure to check it out!
Does Smashwords let you review your book in each format before publishing? When you sent it, did you have typical book formatting (single space indented paragraphs), or was everything left adjusted with spaces between the paragraphs. (I probably should have e-mailed you this question…..)
Hey Suitecat, no that’s okay, on the smashwords site, they have a guide you can read on how to format there. But no, you can’t preview any of it. What you do is follow their formatting directions, then upload your file. Then you can check it in the online versions (They say usually the HTML catches any really goofy formatting issues.)
It’s not perfect, but that’s why you’re going to have the simplest file possible. (Directions in the file creation guide on the site.)
I think you should not write by committee. Do what you want to do; that’s why you’re an indie.
eh, I was doing “market research” to see what might fly better. I already knew what I wanted to do, I was just looking to see if it had any support behind it.
Hey there, just read “Kept” and I am so glad that you are still writing. I found you through your BtVS “Fallen Angels” and “Prophesies and Fate” and have missed your writing. Glad you are still sharing your talent with the world. I loved “Kept” by the way. Hope you write more in this verse. I would love to see the characters developed more. Thanks for sharing.
Hey IT, thanks for following me over to original fic. I’m glad you liked KEPT!
Pretty much everything I’m writing is in this “verse.” But I have two more novellas directly in this series.
Next year I’ll be combining KEPT along with the other two novellas into my first print release.
Thanks for reading!
Z
This was interesting and witty. A page turner.
Thanks, Alice! I’m glad you liked it!
Love the cover. Hope its selling well.
Thanks! I designed it myself.
I didn’t know you had this out Zoe! I am so glad I found it, I hope you finish Save My Soul and publish it soon, you know how much I loved it.
Lis
Hey Liz, thanks! I hope you like it. My first print release is going to be the novella trilogy but the year after that I’m releasing Save My Soul
I LIEK your wizard. He’s wonderful.
Thank you, wench! I like Dayne as well.
Wah Hoo!!! I just downloaded “Kept”. Thank you very much!!
Hi there, Lisa! Hope you like it.
I don’t know If I said it already but …Cool site, love the info. I do a lot of research online on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I’m glad I found your blog. Thanks,
A definite great read..
-Bill-Bartmann
I’m going to read ‘kept’ too! ^^
Thanks! Hope you like it!
an extraordinary book, i cant wait to read more!!!
Thanks, Gabrielle! The first print release (and ebook) will be available in March. It will be a novella trilogy with KEPT and the other two books in the trilogy. The book is called Blood Lust and I have my cover art now up on the main page of the blog.
Then the books after that in the series will be full length novels.
Had to read it all and couldnot wait to finnish it.
Great story about Greta, please write some more, I can’t wait to read more about her world and adventures.
Hi Dirkje,
Thanks for reading! I’m glad you liked KEPT. Because I’m writing romance, I can’t follow the same characters every book/story. Greta will have a small role in the next two novellas in Blood Lust, but The next stories focus on different characters in the same world. All of the books happen in the same world though and they all connect and at times intersect.
cool pics
Just finished reading ‘Kept’ – great fun. Thanx!
You’re welcome! Thanks for reading!
I downloaded a copy of KEPT from another website. I didn’t read the synopsis just based on getting it from the rating it had. I was hooked and ended up reading the entire thing in one sitting. Good work! Looking forward to reading more from you in the future. XOXO
Thank you, Jen! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Blood Lust is the next release and it’s coming out in Ebook next month and Print in May. Blood Lust will be the compilation of three novellas: Kept(which you already read), Claimed, and Mated.
After that, the series shifts into full length novels starting with Save My Soul, releasing hopefully early next year.
If you’d like to sign up for my newsletter, just send your email to me through my contact form at the top of the page here and I’ll get you added to the list.

I liked your story. It was a nice quick read but I felt you wasted opportunities within the story by rushing to finish e.g. the catnip scene could have been quite funny if you had expanded on it but it was almost like you threw it in there and then forgot about it. Similarly the sex scenes were nice but rushed and the ‘evil’ near the end could have been built up more with more feelings of dread etc.
Don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed the story, it was well written but I also like to savour scenes and emotions and felt a bit short changed in several spots.
Thanks Nicky!
I don’t write long detailed scenes. It’s not my style. If you need that in an author, you probably will be frustrated by reading further work by me.
Thank you for giving it a chance though!
Gday. I got a copy of Kept off a mate of mine today, and they were saying how they thoroughly enjoyed it. I wanted to track down some info on the author and it lead me here. I’ve already started reading it and I’m loving it so far!
Thanks, Sinead!
I’m glad you’re enjoying it. The second novella in the series, Claimed is available now at Amazon, B&N.com, and Smashwords.com
The third, Mated is available at Smashwords, but will become available at Amazon and B&N also.
Wow, this looks awesome, downloading now, thank you!!!
You’re welcome! I hope you like it!
I started reading Kept yesterday afternoon and I just wanted to tell you that it sucked me in from the first page- I didn’t move from my spot until I had finished it. Can’t wait to read more of your work!
Katy, Thanks! So glad you liked it… at first I thought you were going to say “It sucked” and just stop there. LOL.
ohhh…downloading my copy now! Can’t wait to read it. Thank you so much, Zoe.
~Talina
Hope you like it, Talina!
BTW gonna check out Kept tonight…
Thanks, Anthony, hope you like it. Kept is the first novella in the Blood Lust book, so if you have Blood Lust, you have Kept!
Just discovered your blog today while taking Scott Nicholson’s blog tour. I have downloaded Kept and will read it very soon. Looking forward to discovering as I am new to reading blogs and got started with Stephen Windwalker’s Kindle blog. I am so very new to this universe that I’m not at all sure what I am doing – so I’ll jump in and hope the veteran bloggers put up with my stumblings. I own a First Generation Kindle and have done more reading than ever before and have explored more types of things because of the Kindle than ever before. It looks like you did a tour like Scott is doing. Is this a common thing among bloggers? I’m concerned that I may not be able to give the many sites the time they deserve but will try. Thanks for taking the time to do this, and letting me in on it.
Hey Jeff, a lot of authors do blog tours to promote their books, yes. Hope you like Kept! It’s paranormal romance, but… if you like it you won’t be the first male fan I have.
I stumbled upon Kept while browsing books on my Nook, I read a sample of it and was hooked. ( so much I ended up buying Blood Lust) Zoe you have packed 3 great stories into these novellas, great job i look forward to more of your books
hello
have tried that but all i get is to sign up for smashwords site and buy the book which i though was a gift?
i hope to download and enjoy it
Thanks, Lynda, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Hey roses,
Unfortunately to pick it up free, you do have to sign up for Smashwords (I’m working on an alternate way to deal with this issue) But you have a coupon code and that means you will get it for FREE. You won’t have to pay anything. I’m sorry for that slight inconvenience (of signing up), but… as far as I’m aware it won’t sign you up for marketing stuff. However I realize that could be a barrier to readers and I appreciate you bringing up the issue to me. I’ll try to figure out another way to deliver the freebie without using Smashwords.
The reason I chose to use a coupon code at Smashwords was because it allows readers to get the free copy in ANY format they want… epub, mobi, pdf, etc. I don’t yet have another efficient way to get that done.
thanx zoe
i hope i will download it
my sis is another paranormal fan, she just got dissaponted but am working on getting that book for her.
i will try your ither books and i hope next time will be easier to download but hey thanx for quick reply.
No prob!
I got this ebook a while back and can honestly tell you it is a GREAT story!!!!!
Thanks, Sherrie!
Hey Zoe
I just got Blood Lust ( The Preternaturals Book One) for my Nook last night.
And I just loved ALL of the novellas. Kept was just great and Claimed was wonderful but I really loved Mated.
Can’t wait to read more from you =)
Thanks so much, Lisa! Send me a message on the contact form at the top of the page if you’d like to be added to my newsletter list. I only send out newsletters when I have either a big contest or a new release. And never more than once per month. Though normally it’s more like 4 times per year.
thankyou so much . I think your book would keep me up till i finish reading it
Thanks, Isabelle! Hope you like it!
Hey… I really loved the book… I read the first couple chapters and I’m excited!
This was one of the best books i have read in a long time cant wait to read the next book in the series
Hi Zoe,
I am so looking forward to reading kept. I am downloading Blood Lust to my Nook as I write this and can’t wait to read it.
I ‘m really excited to be able to read these books.
Thanks, Bex and Kellie!
Thanks, Kathy! Hope you enjoy Blood Lust, and if you do, the next book in the series (a novel), Save My Soul, is now available on Nook as well.
Just sent mine!
Hi Zoe,
you have done incredible job by writing KEPT….. it was the best i read in a long time now…. gonna get the book ASAP….. loved your creations….
:)
Thanks, SWAPNA!
I just downloaded it! Thanks so much!!
Jen
You’re welcome, Jen!
THANKSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!KISSES FROM GREECE!!
You’re welcome.
just sent in my request for Kept I can’t wait to get it and read it!
I was just wondering how long it takes to get the code for kept as i sent the blank email as stated, I recieved the confirmation to subscribe but I have not yet gotten anything to use to downlaod the book. Is there another email address I can contact someone at or do I need to resend for some reason?
Hey Angel, sent it to you, thanks for contacting me! I’m not sure what was going on, but glad i could get the book to you.
I got it, ty ty ty!! I have read it already and I absolutely loved it. Now I have to wait so I can get the others that go with it, which hopefully I can do soon!!
Wonderful, I’m glad you enjoyed it! My suggestion would be… when you can, to get Blood Lust (not the novellas separately. Kept Claimed, and Mated are all sold separately but it’s cheaper (even with Kept free), if you get it as the collection: Blood Lust. The other book is Save My Soul.
Also, if you subscribe to the blog, sometimes I do contests for signed copies.
I’m also going to try to blog less frequently so I don’t overwhelm those subscribed to the blog. I think I’ll have a higher blog subscriber rate if I blog less frequently with more impact.
Sounds interesting…ill read it!!!♥
is this book still available?
Yes! Just follow the directions on the page.
hi Zoe! i just downloaded my copy. thank you very much!
You’re welcome! Hope you enjoy!
